"They are probably all in the library
working on their reports. They should come back soon." Chloe and Cam sat down at the round table and began talking about Chloe's
old church.
"Do they have a Methodist church around here?" Chloe asked.
"Yea, I go to one. Mr. Sid is the part time youth minister
there too. Maybe you can start coming there. We meet for a Bible study here on Tuesdays; we have church on Sunday morning
at 9:30 - 12, youth group at 5:30 PM, and a contemporary worship service at 7. Its really cool, I play the drums in the bands,"
Cam told her.
"I think I will start going," Chloe said as kids walked
into the classroom. Chloe spotted the guy from the hallway named Pete.
"Oh! Lookie at the little religious chick! Oh, and she's sittin'
at the table!" Pete mocked.
"Pete, stop while you're ahead. Well, your never ahead so just
stop," Mr. Sid said.
"Oh! Pete was dissed by the teach!" another kid yelled. Everyone started
laughing. Pete sat down and slumped in his chair.
"Lil' Christian wuss who needs to get the teach
to fight for her," Peter said under his breathe. Mr. Sid heard him and yelled.
"Enough Pete! Just for that everyone has to hand in their
reports right now instead of me letting you work on them today! Everyone thank Pete for that. Pass up your projects please," Mr.
Sidder said as Cam and Chloe covered their mouths hiding laughter. Groans came from students as they passed up their
reports. Mr. Sid picked them up and before even reading the cover of the one on top handed them to Cam. "Your first assignment,"
Mr. Sid told them as Cam placed the stack of paper on the round table.
The days passed by slowly as Chloe learned to accept the mocking
and criticism as jealousy. She had started going to church, CUMC, which Cam had been talking about. She loed it, but
still felt an empty feeling inside. The kid at school who had been teasing her, she found out, didn't even know what
he was talking about when he called her a religious girl. She just wished he could see the light.
"Wait up!" Cam yelled after Chloe as they walked up to Catonscreek
High School. It was now November and it was starting to get quit cold in the mornings. The American flag waved 'hello' in
the wind as Chloe and Cam walked through the doors of the school. Chloe was feeling down and she supposed Cam noticed something
was up because he pulled her over in the hallway.
"Hey, what's up? You've been looking a little down lately,"
Cam asked.
"Nothing. I've just been thinking," Chloe responded.
"Bout' what?"
"Nothing," Chloe lied.
"Hey! I know when you're lying, Chlo." Cam looked her in the
eyes. Chloe hadnt noticed how blue his eyes were.
"I'm just thinking about why everyone in school has to criticize
us. I mean, if we are the ones who are living true lives then why isn't everyone else?" Chloe said quietly, a piece of her
shoulder length hair falling out of her pony tail into her face as she looked down Cam brushed away the loose strand.
"They just need to find out the truth. We need to spread it."
"I know, but I want to do more." Chloe said while still looking
down. Cam put his arm around her and she suddenly realized that she had feelings for Cam. More than just the brother sister
in Christ feeling.
"You're thinking about something else," Cam said.
"Yea, maybe I'll tell you someday. But not yet." Chloe chose
her words carefully. "We need to think of a way to let the truth be known here in school."
"I agree but I have no clue what you're thinking about," Cam
said. Chloe looked at him and they smiled and ran towards Mr. Sid's classroom.
Twenty minutes later the three walked out of the classroom.
"Sounds like an idea to me!" Mr. Sid said smiling.
"Yea, it's a great idea! We can go to my house and make the
poster after class!" Cam yelled.
Right after class Cam and Chloe walked to Cam's house and made
a couple of posters and a huge poster that read:
BIBLE STUDY!
Come and learn the
truth about life!
Wednesday @
6:30 at Cam William's
House!!!
They added a picture of a cross at the bottom and
they were finished. I sure hope this works! Chloe thought as she walked to school at 5:30 PM with Cam, planning to
meet Mr. Sid at the front of the school. The three of them taped the posters on the school walls and on the bulletins. The
next day at school Chloe fulfilled the rest of the plan. At lunch, with Cam right beside her, she stood up on a table and
began to yell.
"Hey everyone! You probably have all seen the posters
in the hallways!" The cafeteria quieted down. "I just wanted you all to know that if you come tomorrow," Chloe stopped, thinking
through what she was about to say. When she finally said it, she said it strongly and from her heart. "If you come tomorrow,
you will learn the truth about why we are here! Why all of us teens are here, who created us, and what we are supposed to
do for the person who created us! I want you all to know the truth, the way," Chloe grew quiet, "and the life." Chloe got
down off the table and walked out of the cafeteria, to Mr. Sid's classroom, and sat down at the round table before any of
the other teachers knew what hit them. The room was empty until Cam came in raging about the crowd in the cafeteria.
"They're goin' crazy in there! They want to hear
more and they want answers! They are gonna come tomorrow! It was all your idea Chloe! You're the best perosn in the world!"
Cam said. He stood there, in front of Chloe and hugged her. Mr. Sid walked in and told them what Cam had just told Chloe.
The next day after school the three of them went
to Cam's hosue and set up. The meeting went great, with a total of 18 people. Mr. Sid shared the truth about why people were
on Earth and who created them. He told them about Jesus Christ and witnessed to the. Cam told the teens what it means to have
faith and believe while Chloe ended with asking them if they wanted to accept Jesus into their lives and telling them what
their jobs as teen Christians would be. It ran for about 2 hours and everyone accepted. Chloe felt better knowing that
she helped a whole 18 people come to know the turth. She knew there would still be those tormenting, rude people out there
who will never accept the truth. But for now, she knew that with help from her friends and God, she can let more people know
about what it means to live the truth, the way, and the life. But at the end... For it is written:
"As I live, says the Lord,
Every knee shall bow to Me,
And every tongue confess to God."
- Romans 14:11
